Josh Newton
Professional Experience
After graduating from Oregon State University in 1995, Josh attended law school at Willamette University, receiving his law degree in 1998. Before joining Karnopp Petersen LLP in 2000, Josh served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable David V. Brewer of the Oregon Court of Appeals.Josh’s practice emphasizes general commercial litigation, real estate and construction litigation, and appellate law, in both state and federal courts. Josh’s experience includes assisting clients in resolving disputes through arbitration, mediation, and other forms of dispute resolution.Josh also works with clients throughout Oregon to address their water and natural resources related legal issues. Josh’s water and natural resource practice includes assisting the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon on various natural resource and water-related matters.

Josh is the co-author of Contracts Created by Agreement and Contracts Created by Operation of Law, CONTRACT LAW IN OREGON 2008 Supp. (OSB CLE), Contracts Created by Agreement and Contracts Created by Operation of Law, CONTRACT LAW IN OREGON 2003 Revision (OSB CLE), Amended and Supplemental Pleadings, OREGON CIVIL PLEADINGS AND PRACTICE 2006 Revision (OSB CLE), and Amended and Supplemental Pleadings, OREGON CIVIL PLEADINGS AND PRACTICE 2001 Supp. (OSB CLE). Josh is a member of the Oregon State Bar and currently serves on the Bar’s Legal Services Program Committee. He was also the Chair of the Oregon New Lawyers Division of the Oregon State Bar for 2007. Josh is a member of the High Desert Museum Community Outreach Board.
