Professional Experience
Erin MacDonald is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Department of Karnopp Petersen LLP.  She regularly counsels clients in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, tax planning, and charitable giving, and assists clients in the formation and tax-exempt qualification of non-profit entities.  Erin believes that building a good relationship with her clients is paramount to taking care of her clients, their families, and their futures.  She approaches each client with sensitivity, recognizing the deeply personal nature of the work she does.

A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut (B.A. in Psychology), Erin earned her Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. Erin won the school's Outstanding Oral Advocate Award, and was editor of the law school's law review, Environmental Law.

Professional & Community Activities
Erin actively participates in the local community as Vice Chairperson of the St. Charles Foundation Board, advisory board member for U.S. Bank's Central and Eastern Oregon Region, advisory board member of the Assistance League of Bend,  board member for Friends with Flowers and member of the Investment Committee of the Central Oregon Community College Foundation.  Erin was a 2008 Accomplished Under 40 recipient, and served as the President of the 2008 Leadership Bend Class. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar's Estate Planning and Elder Law Sections, Central Oregon Estate Planning Council, Oregon Women Lawyers, Cascade Women Lawyers, Deschutes County Bar Association, and donates her time to Oregon Legal Aid's Senior Law Project as a volunteer attorney.

Erin authored, "Playing by the Rules: The World Bank's Failure to Adhere to Policy in the Funding of Large-Scale Hydropower Projects," Environmental Law, Vol. 31 (2001).
