Professional Experience

Ron Roome joined the firm in 1988 and has been a litigation partner since 1994. Prior to joining Karnopp Petersen, Ron practiced for a well respected law firm in San Francisco. He was admitted to practice in California in 1982 and Oregon in 1988. Ron's practice focuses on general civil litigation, employment law litigation and representation of clients before administrative agencies, plaintiff's personal injury and wrongful death claims, and insurance law. Ron is the senior litigator in the firm's Employment Law department.

Ron regularly appears in court proceedings on behalf of clients. He also enjoys counseling clients on litigation and employment law related matters. Formerly, Ron worked as an insurance defense attorney, representing people and businesses who were sued for damages. Now Ron's focus as a civil litigator and trial attorney has him representing a wide variety of both corporate clients and individuals. This includes advising employers on employment issues and plaintiffs who are injured or suffer harm. Ron also serves as an arbitrator and mediator in a wide variety of civil claims.

Professional & Community Activities

Ron was recently appointed by Governor Kulongoski to serve on the Oregon Liquor Control Commission's Board of Commissioners. Ron is a past President of J.R. Campbell American Inns of Court (2002-2003) and past President of the Deschutes County Bar Association (1997-1998). Additionally he is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyer’s Association, a member of the Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Board, a member of the Judge Pro Tem Screening Committee and past member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and Oregon State Bar Civil Procedure and Practice Committee. Ron serves as an Arbitrator in the Deschutes County Court mandatory arbitration program and for the Arbitration Service of Portland, Inc. He also serves as a private arbitrator and mediator on general civil claims and motor vehicle accident and personal injury claims. Ron is a member of both the Oregon and California Bar Associations.
