Karnopp Petersen Donates Legal Services for 2010 "Adopt A Business" Program Winners
In a time when the success of small business is directly related to our national economic success, Karnopp Peterson LLP (KP), is proud to announce its support for this year’s 2010 “Adopt A Business” (A2B) program winners. KP has agreed to donate up to $7,500 of discounted legal services for the 2010 Central Oregon A2B winner. In an effort to provide additional support for the A2B Program, KP has also agreed to extend a similar discount to the 1st runner-up and top finalist.
The donated legal services are to be provided at a discount for winners over the next two years. Award recipients include:
· Via Delia – A2B program winner - Via Delia creates artistic buttons, magnets, and complementary accessories to commemorate any occasion. Via Delia’s proprietor and chief Buttonista, Delia Paine, first gained local notoriety for her ever-popular Bend, Oregon refrigerator magnets. Via Delia’s political buttons received local, national, and international media coverage, were worn by governors, members of Congress, Cabinet members, and major celebrities; and were selected for the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. KP also teamed up with Via Delia to create magnets for the Race for the River event benefiting the Deschutes River Conservancy.
· Tula Gluten Free Baking Co. – 1st runner-up – a wholesale bakery offering gluten-free, vegan baked goods. Pastries and more are currently sold through Allyson's Kitchen, Blenderz, Bom Dia, Dilusso, Green Plow, Lone Pine, Jackson's Corner, Nature's General Store, Pizza Mondo and Thump.
· Ballokai – top finalist - Ballokai creates one-of-a-kind handmade pieces of art that merge fashion with environmental sustainability, crafting unique fashion accessories from unconventional materials. Ballokai handbags are made from recycled coffee sacks and feature a variety of quality linings. The Tie Bag incorporates a repurposed men's necktie for the strap. Jewelry is shaped from retired musical instrument strings. The vibrant gold, silver and copper tones of the strings make distinctive earrings, necklaces and bangle bracelets.
The A2B program is a multi-year support process, focused on helping local businesses succeed with particular emphasis on a worthy winner selected each year. It was formed in partnership with SCORE, the Bend Chamber of Commerce, Central Oregon Community College and Small Business Development Center, Economic Development for Central Oregon, and Opportunity Knocks. Through the program’s open application process, one business per year is selected to receive two years of counseling and mentoring services, membership in participating organizations, reduced costs for local business workshops and educational courses, and other benefits to be provided by selected program sponsors (valued well in excess of $25,000). Program organizers have extensive contacts and connections with professionals in fields such as legal, accounting, banking/financial services, sales, marketing, advertising, public relations and media, general management and operations, and human resources.
