Professional Experience

John comes to Karnopp Petersen LLP after spending seven years as Senior Counsel for the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. Prior to that, John practiced in the Yakima Valley at Cockrill, Weaver & Ogan, P.C., where his practice focused on assisting the Yakama Nation meet its fish, wildlife and natural resources objectives. John's practice emphasises Federal Indian and Tribal Law and represents the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon on a broad array of legal issues, and is involved significantly in its natural resources matters. Prior to starting his legal career, John spent several years working as a fisheries biologist for the state of Oregon

Personal Interests

John is an outdoors enthusiast and pursues his passion for hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors in any way he can throughout Oregon and Alaska, often accompanied by his wife Annie and their three children.  As an avid college football fan, if not afield on a Saturday in the fall, John can most likely be found cheering on the Beavers.
