Dennis C. Karnopp
Professional Experience
Dennis joined the firm (then McKay, Panner, Johnson & Marceau) in 1967 after receiving his law degree. During his career, Dennis has focused a significant part of his practice in the area of Indian Law, which deals with a broad range of complex legal and legislative issues. He carries on a tradition of the firm, which has represented the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon since 1955. He also represents a number of small businesses and is listed in the "Best Lawyers Consumer Guide."
Professional & Community Activities
Dennis is a Fellow of the American Bar Association. He currently serves on the Affirmative Action Committee and House of Delegates of the Oregon State Bar and has also chaired several committees, including the General Practice Section, Unauthorized Practice Committee and Task Force on the Disciplinary System. He served as a Lawyer Representative, Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, 1986-88 and was Co-Chair of the Campaign for Equal Justice, 1998-2000. Dennis was the first male member of the Central Oregon Women Lawyers Association.
Dennis has been recognized by his peers for his leadership abilities and has served as President of the Oregon State Bar, the Western States Bar Conference, and the Central Oregon Bar. Dennis is also the 2006-2007 co-chair of the Campaign for Equal Justice. A past Chairman of the Oregon Land Conservation and Development Commission, Dennis is currently a Trustee of The Nature Conservancy of Oregon.
